Women come to see me for

• Pre-pregnancy appointments, to ensure everything is on track prior to falling pregnant
• To discuss medical problems or complications in a previous pregnancy (see below)
• Medication safety checks, to make sure you are on the most pregnancy-friendly option and that you and your other specialists are aware of any additional risks or monitoring required

Medical problems in pregnancy

• Diabetes and thyroid problems
• High blood pressure and kidney disease
• Inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s)
• Blood clots and clotting disorders
• Epilepsy and other neurological problems;
• Lupus (SLE) and other autoimmune problems

Previous pregnancy complications

• Pre-eclampsia
• Small and growth-restricted babies
• Premature birth and short cervix
• Stillbirth or Recurrent miscarriage
